My magic is coming back!

Dear Friend,

I know you touched me by accident, and that's okay. Accidents happen, even at the North Pole!

My magic got a little weak, so last night I stayed put while it recharged. Thank you for telling the truth. Santa says honesty is one of the most important things on the nice list.

Tonight, sprinkle a little cinnamon next to me before bed. Cinnamon is like vitamins for elf magic. By morning I'll be ready to fly again!

Love,
your elf

P.S. Santa says you're still on the nice list. Phew!

FAQ

What do you do if you touch the elf?

Many families sprinkle a little cinnamon next to the elf before bed to 'restore' its magic. The next morning the elf moves again with a note like this one.

Why cinnamon?

It's a popular family tradition (not an official rule): cinnamon is warm, Christmassy and safe to sprinkle. Some families use 'magic snow' (sugar) instead.

What if a toddler keeps touching it?

Move the elf higher, keep the tone gentle, and don't make it scary. The letter here thanks the child for honesty instead of scolding.
